Summer Reading

PBS Kids Raising Readers
PBS Kids Raising Readers is a national literacy campaign, and part of the Ready to Learn initiative, focused on building reading skills at home, at school, in child care, and in the community. Funded by a Ready to Learn grant from the United States Department of Education, the Ready to Learn initiative is developing engaging PBS KIDS Raising Readers television programs, exciting games, and playful Web sites, and easy-to-use learning resources for kids, parents, caregivers, and teachers--all with the goal of helping children ages 2 to 8 get ready to read. PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest
Kids! It's time to sharpen your pencils, get out your crayons, and let your ideas fly! The PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest is beginning in January! We'll be on the lookout for stories written and illustrated by kids in Kinder - 3rd Grade. Everyone gets a certificate for entering, and top place finishers in each grade will win some great prizes!

The contest begins in January 2012 and will end on April 2, 2012. Look for complete rules, including entry forms and more information, beginning December 2011 at klrn.org/writerscontest.

We look forward to reading a gaggle of stories this year!
